Beekeeping Field Class 2024

Join us for a three hour field day class of hands on experience with live beehives. We will open several hives to inspect them and assess the health of the hives and determine action plans. Gain experience in successfully handling bees regardless of your level of beekeeping, whether it’s your first time or you have bees and want to learn more from an experienced beekeeper.
This field class includes:

- Personal protection – suits are provided, but if you have your own please bring it
- Identifying different casts of honey bees: queen, workers and drones
- Basic honey bee biology
- Hive equipment
- How to set up an apiary
- How to order bees
- Pests and diseases and treatments
- Products of the hive including a taste of honey
